I grew up in Indiana, went to school at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and then moved to Colorado in 2002 to train full time at the OTC in Colorado Springs. I swam collegiately and jumped right into triathlon. I've had a pro license since 2002 and it blows me away that it is 2011 and I am still racing! I used to think (even as little as 3 years ago) that Ironman was only for people who had totally lost their mind. Well look at that; I guess I have too. :) I love the journey I have been on, nothing has come easily and there have been many ups and downs but I'd not change it for the world. My husband Derick & I live in Austin, TX with our Australian Cattle Dog/Red Heeler Amico, and our 20+ # cat named Corgi. We're mountain people by heart, but Austin has been great to us and for the time being, we do love this city. The killer Tex Mex & Margaritas may have something to do with it too....

How Do You Prepare For An Event:
I try to not change too much out of the normal routine; smart and focused training, a little added R&R, and the few days prior I like to try to stay away from the ‘event’ as much as I can; I’m a big fan if hibernating in my hotel room, legs up, reading
