In 2008 I fulfilled my dream of joining my twin sister as a professional triathlete. The dream began shortly after I finished my swimming career at George Washington University. However, my plans were derailed when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 23. Suddenly, my world involved doctors, hospitals and chemotherapy instead of working, working out, and spending time with my friends. Throughout my treatment and the recovery that followed I watched on the sidelines as Bec pursued her athletic goals. Her success inspired me to get well and get strong! I stopped watching and started racing in 2007, and I feel better than ever. After a successful year as an amateur, I made my pro debut in 2008. The season went well and I was awarded Rookie of the Year by USA Triathlon, four years after Bec received the same award!
